The violence is a bit less in this book but yet it is intense! The mutts in here are scary and shooting is involved. The beginning of the book starts out good. A lot of the book stars Katniss in action and, in the end, somehow get into some violence. There is a part of the book where Katniss get shot but she is okay. Peeta is hijacked in a tortures way, and beaten up this is a disturbing concep, but it is important part of the book. Katniss cares about him, and she is afraid that whatever she does for the rebel cause, it will be inflicted on him.

The torture is heard about but not really described though one moment Peeta tells about what happened to the others who got tortured. I think Part 3 in the book is the most intense part.

They go into the Capitol to hunt Snow down but they must watch for the Pods if you set them off, they send something terrible. Katniss is brave and hard-working! The only part I thought that could be left out was the kissing with Gale. This title contains: Positive Messages.

Positive role models. This review Helped me decide 6. Had useful details Read my mind 7. Report this review. Kid, 11 years old April 6, Definately my Favorite Book.

I had finally finished two of three books in the Hunger Games Trilogy. I strongly believed that they were the most fantastic books I had ever read. However, after I opened Mockingjay, I knew that I had been wrong. This book was packed with even more drama and detail than the books before it.

The reason I think this book was better than the previous books, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, is because the situation is much more difficult than before. Instead of having the Hunger Games themselves as a conflict, the conflict in Mockingjay was an entire war, putting tens of thousands of lives at risk rather than just Many characters that I feel like I knew and loved died over the course of the story.

I shed many tears over the perfectly written pages. This book reached out farther than any other book had before, right through my heart. The way she writes makes the words come alive, makes the characters jump right out of the page, the landscape painting itself right before your eyes. Mockingjay is probably the most inspirational novel I have ever read. I would recommend this book to more mature 9 year olds and up. Younger kids might not be able to understand some of the elements in Mockingjay as well as older kids and teens.

The book brings up deep subjects like war, assassination, drug abuse, and alcohol. Although the drug and alcohol themes in the book are minor, it may bother some people. Readers should expect plenty of detailed violence and gore. If you enjoyed the other two novels in the Hunger Games Trilogy, and enjoy a fast-paced book with an excellent plotline, I think you will find that Mockingjay is absolutely breathtaking.

Totally deserves the PG rating. Parent of a year-old Written by N. October 25, Depressive impression, contains a lot of extremely violent scenes.

All three books are written in a very dynamic manner, makes the reader with a passion follow the plot.

The main character seem attractive and positive. Overall, however, the story leaves a depressive impression, contains a lot of extremely violent scenes that could potentially negative impact on the child's psyche. Also there is sexual content, that may be appropriate for audiences over Adult Written by kaetra October 8, Way too muchGore, not for kids. As with the rest of this series there is no shortage of young children being hurt and killed in horrible and gory ways.

This book describes toddlers being maimed and killed with explosives. There is no way this book is appropriate for any child to read. Teens would probably be ok. My daughter's classmates were reading this in 5th grade. After reading it myself I can't believe this series would be considered ok by anyone for a 10 year old. Adult Written by filmmaster93 May 9, Excellent read unless your very little.

I think this a wonderful book as long as your not little or in Kindergarten and such. The whole series is excellent! It is because in this book the whole time Katniss is trying to overthrow President Snow to stop the violent Hunger Games.

Most of the violent scenes aren't brutely described and are edited out. Adult Written by Parthena November 2, Suicidal Themes - Not for Depressed Teens or Adults All 3 books were all very well written, although 'Mockingjay' should not be read by anyone who has or is suffering with depression as it deals with heavy suicidal themes, immense guilt, and some morphine addiction.

Parents - please read each book all the way through before letting your child do so. Although I loved the first 2 books, I was very disappointed with 'Mockingjay' due to it's overall depressing message. The last 2 pages and epilogue were ok.

Honestly, if you want to know what happens to the main characters just read those last few pages. Other than that it gives a fair and honest description of war and what it can do to people. Adult Written by Emilie-Jane October 23, Read again when your older : what i think is incredibly important for parents to understand is that this book needs some sort of understanding in the way of feeling of attraction to fully comprehend the real emotion of the book.

I love the books ive just read them and im 18 and being the age i am i can understand the main character Katniss feelings of friendship and attraction to both Gale and Peeta. Its a fantastic book but very emotional and if your child does read this book at the age of 12, as my sister has done, it would be benificial to read the books again at possibly my age.

My younger sister doesnt understand the relationships between Gale and katniss and also and especially that between Katniss and Peeta. When speaking with my mum, my sister thought very childishly no offence to my sister about the way katniss" likes both of them but cant decide who she wants to be her boyfriend".

The story has a much deeper through-line than this which could only be understood by an older teen. Also the mention of alcohol and drugs is prominent as well and the effects of drugs and alcohol. Also an incredible female role woman who is strong and independent- good for girls to look up to however brutal the story is.

Adult Written by learnbybooks38 May 5, Good Book This book is one which you may want to read with your children. Like the first two books of the trilogy it contains violence. However, this installment looks into war. Characters change and cruelty and can be depicted. The psychological effects of loss and taking responsibility for one's actions are delved deeply into in this novel.

Some young reader may be upset over the deaths of well-liked characters and the insight into the desperation. This is a great book, but you should be ready to talk with your child about how they feel about.

This is chance to discuss the power of the media and war. This is the type of book which is helpful for a young reader because i helps them think beyond the scope of their own lives as it is told in first person.

Help guide your child and suggest they read it with others. I bought all the books and read them, one day each.

They were that good. I spent a week on each book. Then during school, everyone was reading it, so I thought to myself, "Maybe I should read that book Catching Fire was my favorite, so it took me about 4 days. Mockingjay was slow and boring, so it took me a good 2 weeks. Catching fire is my favorite too! I basically read a book a day! I know i read slow. TheFan said: THG: one day.

It took me 5 days to finsish the first book. But I am now halfway through 'Chasing Fire'and it's only been 3 days. I'm a slow reader. It's Catching Fire, not Chasing Fire. So I took 2 days to read the whole series. I stayed up to 5am reading the first book because I couldn't put it down Pretty sad I know. Wow just Wow!!!! Tarabear16 said: The Hunger Games 3 Catching Fire 1 Mocking Jay 2 Total it was three weeks but my parents took a while to buy me the rest of the books or else I would've finished them all combined.

SO, five days? PellyPocket said: It took me 3 weeks cuz im dyslexic and 1 week for each book. MrsFinnick said: About 2 weeks because I read the hunger games right before seeing the movie then I re-read it.

Then I read Catching Fire and then Mockingjay. But since then I've read every book at least 4 times.
